The chains were made of flat bar iron, and are continuous from one end of the bridge to the other. They are riveted to the ends of the main girders, not anchored at a distance as they would normally be on a traditional suspension design. The bridge and its extension, the Stapenhill Viaduct, link Burton upon Trent town centre to the suburb of Stapenhill half a mile away on the other side of the river. The bridge is a "semi-suspension" bridge, of which this is the first and only one of its kind in Europe to be built to this design.First time using this yeast with a Speckled Hen Clone recipe. Two vials used, one two months old, the other 3 months old. Pitched, and had kreusen form in four hours; fermentation started in 8 hours. I wanted to do a little experiment using one vial for 4 batches. The best way to speed it up now would be to transfer it into another container. That helps mix it around and break out CO2 that could be repressing the yeast.

It was officially opened on Wednesday 3 April 1889, and the ceremony was attended by between 8,000 and 10,000 people.

I was initially worried that it was infected but I do not think that is the case based on the tasted. It was racked on the yeast cake of the Apple Ale, so maybe there was just a lot more yeast than needed.

I have been brewing the same Brown Porter recipe for years using WLP001. I brewed an Ordinary Bitter first, then re-pitched the yeast into my Brown Porter. Fermented at 68F for 10 days then crashed down to 35F. Took first runner up best of show at one competition and best of show at another.

Can also be an alternative to WLP001 California Ale Yeast®.

Burton Ale yeast is so top cropping, so make sure beer or yeast did not come out of the blow off tube.
